Brian Flores joined Southwest Strategies in October 2011 as a Senior Account Executive after years of working as a television news reporter. Flores brings to SWS a unique multitude of talent, public trust and experience with his background covering thousands of San Diego's major news stories as the main general assignment reporter for Fox 5 San Diego. Flores' work has also been seen nationwide on CNN, Fox News and several other television stations throughout the country. To compliment his outstanding communication skills, Flores possesses years of media experience covering San Diego's city council, and county government. At SWS, Flores works closely with clients such SANDAG, Caltrans, SDG&E and General Dynamics NASSCO. Flores, a native of San Diego, grew up in Mira Mesa and is a graduate of Mira Mesa High School. His journalism and public relations roots run three generations. Flores' grandfather was a journalist in the Philippines for several years. Flores' father, Ernie Flores, Jr. was the first Filipino-American journalist to write for The San Diego Union, and later became press secretary for former Congressman Jim Bates, working in media relations for the former United States International University (USIU). In 1986 he started The Filipino Press newspaper published out of National City, CA. Flores is a proud graduate of California State University, Northridge earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and young daughter, along with snowboarding, playing baseball, and watching his favorite teams, the Padres and Chargers. |
