Manager of Public Affairs
Amy Spear has broad experience in public affairs, government relations and strategic communications. She serves as Manager of Public Affairs at Southwest Strategies. Spear supports the firm’s private and public clients through the entitlement and construction process by overseeing outreach programs for clients such as SANDAG, Caltrans, Regency Centers and City of Carlsbad. Her responsibilities include developing and implementing strategic plans, planning community and public meetings, coordinating a variety of collateral pieces, and building strong relationships with key project stakeholders.
Prior to joining the team at Southwest Strategies, Spear worked on Capitol Hill for U.S. Senator Richard G. Lugar (IN) for more than four years as Projects Director and Legislative Assistant. She worked on a range of issues including local economic development, transportation, energy and infrastructure and helped secure federal appropriations, grants and loans for communities. She also served as a Governor’s Fellow for former Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels.
Spear currently is the Vice President of the Board of Directors at the Women’s Museum of California, serves on the Programs Committee for WTS San Diego and is a member of the North San Diego Business Chamber. She is currently earning her Real Estate Finance, Investments and Development Certificate from the University of San Diego and received her Bachelor of Arts from Indiana University.
A native Hoosier, Spear enjoys cheering on the Colts, hiking throughout California and exploring the San Diego food scene. She resides in Webster with her husband and two adorable cats.Back To Our People
