As a Manager of Public Affairs with Southwest Strategies, Dustin Lawrence develops and oversees communication and outreach campaigns for high-profile clients across the San Diego region. From political campaigns to corporate communications, Lawrence has led and developed strategic communications campaigns that have helped secure wins at the ballot box. Lawrence specializes in public affairs, media relations, communications strategy, and editorial writing.
Prior to joining Southwest Strategies, Lawrence worked in the Los Angeles office of SKDKnickerbocker (SKDK), an award-winning strategic communications agency that works with Fortune 500 companies, non-profits, philanthropic organizations, labor unions, and political committees and candidates. During his time at SKDK, he supported political and public affairs clientele by assisting in campaign strategy on congressional, state assembly, state superintendent, and school board races. Most recently, he led media relations out of the Los Angeles office and was the client lead for PATH, the largest homeless housing provider in California.
Lawrence started his career working in traditional public relations at Weber Shandwick and Emanate PR where he had the opportunity to work with corporate clients such as Bank of America, General Motors, WOW Air, and Aldi. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications and a minor in advertising from the University of Southern California.
