Manager of Public Affairs
Jake Sneeden applies a dynamic range of experiences working with federal agencies, building coalitions and executing national outreach plans to his work at Southwest Strategies. He has experience with stakeholder engagement, strategic communications, and renewable energy and distributed generation markets. His work at Southwest Strategies primarily includes developing and implementing public engagement plans for Pacific Gas & Electric Company on major electric infrastructure projects in Northern California. He has also worked with clients, including San Diego County Water Authority, Donahue Schriber, Gafcon and Falck USA, to develop targeted communications strategies and build coalitions to garner public support for projects and initiatives in Southern California.
Prior to joining Southwest Strategies, he was a public sector consultant with Eastern Research Group where he worked on projects with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Department of Energy and the Transportation Research Board of the National Academies. His work focused on developing public-private partnerships to promote clean energy markets, planning nationwide communications strategies and helping companies communicate their sustainability efforts. In his work with EPA, he spearheaded the development of a national consortium of K-12 schools purchasing renewable energy.
He has also worked in Washington, D.C. for Senator Jeanne Shaheen supporting constituent engagement on energy, international affairs and healthcare issues and on communications and marketing plans for a startup building software applications designed to support finance-driven solutions to climate change and poverty in developing countries.
He lives in Ocean Beach and sits on the Equinox Center’s Leaders 2020 Steering Committee and Surfrider San Diego’s Executive Committee. He is a proficient French speaker and has lived abroad in Senegal and France. Sneeden graduated cum laude from Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service with a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service, majoring in International Politics with a concentration in Security Studies.Back To Our People
