Manager of Public Affairs
Melanie Wilson is a Manager of Public Affairs at Southwest Strategies specializing in government relations and community outreach. Wilson works with several land use clients, helping direct them through the entitlement process. Prior to joining the team, Wilson was Land Use Advisor to Supervisor Bill Horn and Policy Advisor to Supervisor Ron Roberts. She worked on a wide range of issues, including infrastructure, land use, water, energy, transportation and affordable housing.
Earlier in her career, Wilson was an Associate at LeSar Development Consultants where she assisted clients with long range planning and managed the Campaign to End Homelessness in Downtown San Diego. She has also worked at the San Diego Housing Commission and in private development.
Wilson is currently a Board Member and Sub Committee Chair of the San Diego Chamber Young Leaders Board. She is also actively involved in the Lincoln Club of San Diego County, the California Women’s Leadership Association and the United Way’s Women’s Leadership Council. She also serves as a mentor for San Diego State’s Aztec Mentor Program.
Wilson holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and undergraduate degrees in Economics and Political Science from San Diego State University. She is currently pursuing a Real Estate Finance, Investments and Development certificate through the Burnham Moore’s Center for Real Estate.
A Pacific Beach resident, Wilson enjoys walks on the bay, attending community events and exploring new places.Back To Our People
