Expansion into Northern California Positions Firm to Lead Public Affairs and Public Outreach Campaigns throughout the Golden State

SAN DIEGO (June 14, 2016) – Leading California public affairs and public outreach firm Southwest Strategies, LLC announced this month the opening of a Sacramento office location to meet expanding client needs throughout Northern California as well as the Central Valley, Central Coast and Sacramento areas. The new office will operate under the leadership of Senior Director of Public Affairs Stephanie Dell and Director of Public Affairs Michael Bowman.

The Sacramento office is the firm’s third location and its first in Northern California. Southwest Strategies also has strategic locations in downtown San Diego and the Central Valley in Fresno. Under the leadership of Vice President Jessica Luternauer, the Central Valley office is in its third year of operations. It has added five employees in the past year and, like the firm’s San Diego office, continues growing its team to meet client demand.

“Southwest Strategies is dedicated to helping our clients achieve statewide success in challenging and complex environments that involve a variety of communications disciplines,” said Southwest Strategies President Chris Wahl. “With the establishment of our Sacramento office, we are well positioned to serve the expanding needs of our growing client base.”

The team at Southwest Strategies is an accomplished group of professionals that have helped approve, construct and educate the public about more than $10 billion of infrastructure projects in the fields of energy, transportation, water and retail development.

High profile assignments the firm has helped support include San Diego Gas & Electric’s PowerLink transmission line, Poseidon Water’s Carlsbad Desalination Project, Westfield Corporation’s UTC Shopping Center, and the San Diego Association of Government’s 27-mile widening of Interstate 5, or the North Coast Corridor.

“Southwest Strategies is privileged to represent a broad-base of outstanding clients that are making a profound difference in the quality of life for many Californians,” said Chairman Alan Ziegaus. “We look forward to continuing to play a key role in the success of our clients and working with new ones on a statewide basis to help them achieve their goals.”

Southwest Strategies was formed by Alan Ziegaus and Chris Wahl in 2000. Now in its 16th year of operations, the firm’s principals have more than six decades of combined public relations and public affairs experience in California. Southwest Strategies has been recognized numerous times on a national level. The firm has won seven prestigious Silver Anvil awards, the highest distinction bestowed upon public relations professionals by the National Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, including two in 2016.
