SWS President Wins One of Ceremony’s Highest HonorsNov 10, 2014
Chris Wahl honored as top professional and company wins multiple awards at annual public relations gala
Southwest Strategies, LLC, one of San Diego’s top public affairs firms, was honored with multiple awards at the Public Relations Society of America’s (PRSA) Edward L. Bernays Mark of Excellence Awards Ceremony at the Prado in Balboa Park. The annual ceremony recognizes San Diego’s most esteemed public relations professionals and public relations campaigns of 2014. One of the highest honors of the ceremony, Public Relations Pro of the Year, was awarded to Southwest Strategies’ President, Chris Wahl, for his service, dedication and commitment to his clients and the profound impact he has had on the industry.
“I am honored to have received this award,” said Wahl. “Southwest Strategies is driven by the desire to help our clients succeed. This accomplishment is a true reflection of their commitment to make our community a better place to live.”
Wahl is an award-winning public affairs practitioner with more than 20 years of experience. He specializes in securing land-use and regulatory approvals, forming community coalitions, and handling high-profile media assignments. In the past year, Wahl represented a wide-ranging group of maritime businesses that overturned a successfully controversial land use plan through a citywide referendum. The issue was highly controversial and figured significantly in the Mayor’s election.
Wahl has won numerous awards and recognitions for his work. He previously served as President of Wahl Associates and Vice President of a California public affairs firm and has also managed government relations for the American Bankers Association. He and partner Alan Ziegaus formed Southwest Strategies in 2000.
Southwest Strategies won multiple recognitions for the work it has done for its clients, including awards for the Falck ambulance services media kit; the Barrio Logan issues management campaign; the Fox Sports Time Warner campaign; and Poseidon Water Services and the Carlsbad Desalination Project. The firm has historically been recognized at the Bernays Awards Ceremony, and this year was no different. Southwest Strategies is looking forward to continuing its esteemed level of work as its client base expands.
“Chris has done a tremendous job guiding Southwest Strategies over the years,” said company Chairman Alan Ziegaus. “I congratulate him on this award, as well as our entire team. They have worked hard, and these awards show that we continue to strive for excellence in our work.”
Southwest Strategies continues to strive for success and knows that 2015 will be no different. The company congratulates all the award recipients and thanks PRSA of San Diego and Imperial Counties for another great event.
