Mayra Ortiz is a Designer at Southwest Strategies. She is a firm believer in a “less is more” design philosophy, which dictates that design doesn’t need to be adorned with lots of colors, shapes and photos to be good. Rather, she believes that design needs only two things to be successful: beauty and functionality. Ortiz loves feeling challenged and enjoys staying current on design trends, drawing inspiration from design blogs and podcasts. Her design experience ranges from working as a lead designer in a small firm in Tijuana to freelancing at places like BASIC, Grizzly and her small design studio, Fenotipo, which specializes in identity design. Ortiz holds a bachelor’s degree in graphic design from UABC Facultad de Ciencias de la Ingeniería y Tecnología.
